'I will pay the greatest attention to the slightest inspiration from God,' for 'if I do not become a saint while I am young, I shall never be one'- are the words of St, John Berchmans, the patron of altar servers and who become a saint by living just 22 years on this earth.

Though the titular feast of St. John Berchmans falls on the 13th of August, the altar servers of our Parish celebrated it on 01-09-2013 to give it a added grandeur and importance.

A thanks giving mass was offered at 7.30 in the presence of entire parish community. Fr Edwin F. Pinto presided over the mass during which 15 children were officially received into the order of altar servers by giving them blessed scapulars of John Berchmans. The entire liturgy was conducted by the altar servers.

After the mass, a short stage programme and cultural programme was organized by the Altar servers themselves, to mark the day. Janis Goveas compered the programme, Eshwin welcomed the gathering and Aman Cutinha thanked everyone present. The secretary Lavita Miranda kept before the audience the brief report of the activities of the solidarity. Fr Vernon, Fr. Edwin and Mr. Vincent Menezes wished well to the children and appreciated their service in the church.

In the cultural programme a dance, a group song and a drama named 'altar boy' was staged and the programme came out well. A few members of the Parish Pastoral Council were present and encouraged the children with their presence. Lavita Rodrigues conducted some games. At the end a high tea was served for all.
